From energy to justice, economics and education we celebrate these stories as we navigate our way to a thriving world. As a whole, they illuminate that—given the opportunity—most people are fundamentally innovative, resilient and want to help each other.
Foster: Hello, everyone and welcome to THRIVE Good News, Episode 8. I want to touch on some highlights today in various sectors of the good news that I’m receiving.
I want to start with Economics. There’s a delightful story of a company called Bright Farms and they’re producing a supply chain revolution by creating locally grown food, mostly on the roofs of supermarkets. Sometimes they do it in their distribution centers and sometimes they have their garden in their communities, but mostly they’re actually trying to build on the roofs of these supermarkets. What that allows them to do is to offer fresh produce picked that same day right on the property for the same price as the usually tasteless produce that’s being shipped in from Mexico, California, Arizona, and so forth that needs to be picked early and usually treated with things in order to make it survive the trip and on the shelf. Having a shorter and vastly simpler supply chain enables them to be price-competitive. It’s a really unique business model. Bright Farms puts up the money for the greenhouse farms. Then, they build the facility and train local farmers. All the stores have to do is simply commit to buying the produce. Since 2011, Bright Farms has already partnered with seven major supermarket chains. I’ll give you more information in a link below this blog for anyone who wants to follow up on that.
In the Environment area, news out of China is that wind power is leaving nuclear behind. Electricity output from China’s wind farms exceeded that from its nuclear plants for the first time in 2012 by a narrow margin. In 2013, wind really pulled away, outdoing nuclear by a full 22%.
In South Africa, Monsanto has been ordered to stop making false advertising claims about GMOs. Just as a quick historical note, in the 1940s and ’50s, Monsanto made false safety claims about their own insecticide, DDT, and then by 1972, independent research had shown the horrific consequences of DDT, which ultimately led to the chemical being banned worldwide. I think as most of you know, we’re seeing the same phenomenon happen again, but we’re in the middle of it. So, people are taking a stand against corporations like Monsanto that try to control world agriculture through false advertising.
One example is Miriam Mayet, who is the Executive Director for the African Center for Biosafety. Mayet and the ACB have lodged a formal complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa, reporting that Monsanto’s radio ads are unsubstantiated because in their ads, Monsanto falsely claimed that their institution knows what’s best for the growing world population. They claim they are the ones who can feed the 8 billion people by 2025 if only South Africans would accept their GMO seeds. They also claim that GMO crops use fewer resources, have been strictly regulated, and have been extensively researched and tested for safety, which is not true. They go on to tout the fact that their products increase crop yields, decrease greenhouse emissions, and promote less pesticide use — all of which is not only unproven, but experts like Vandana Shiva and Jeffrey Smith say it’s exactly the opposite.
Moving on to the Health Sector, fluoride has recently been classified as dangerous to developing brains. This was published in a prestigious journal, Lancet Neurology. They report that fluoride joins lead, arsenic, methylmercury, and toluene (as well as other chemicals) known to cause harm to brains. Fluoride is now newly classified as a developmental neurotoxin. The authors of this study write that “a meta-analysis of 27 cross-sectional studies of children exposed to fluoride in drinking water, mainly from China, suggests an average IQ decrease of about 7 points in children exposed to raised fluoride concentrations.” The majority of these studies, by the way, had water fluoride levels that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency currently allows in the U.S. One of many good news stories on the banning of fluoride is that Hernando County in Florida has just refused to add the toxic fluoride to their water.
In the Justice area, you probably heard a story about two judges who finally got busted for jailing innocent children in what’s being called now a “kids for cash scheme”. One of them is Mark Ciavarella, Jr. and he is a former county judge from Pennsylvania. He was just sentenced to 28 years in federal prison for abusing the criminal justice system by illegally jailing thousands of innocent children in return for cash. He was found guilty of accepting a million dollars in bribes from the builders of two private juvenile detention centers in Lucerne County. Those centers went on to heavily profit from many false convictions that filled its cells with innocent kids. The charges in many instances were minor. The young people were jailed for classroom pranks, fights between students, profanity. One woman was not only jailed, but sent off to four weeks of a remote re-education camp in the woods for drawing a goofy sketch of her high school principal.
Let’s move on to Education. Indiana has just become the first state to scrap the Common Core curriculum. For those of you who are not familiar with Common Core, this is the national program (a federally backed program) to further consolidate uniformity and absolute control over the educational system following in the footsteps of the unfunded No Child Left Behind program from Bush. This is Obama’s contribution. Criticism over growing cost and federally dictating the curriculum is growing in many states where any remaining semblance of creativity and critical thinking are being replaced by further propaganda and training for obedience. Indiana, which was under Governor Mitch Daniels, one of the early proponents of Common Core (even a poster child for them), has since changed their view and basically kicked them out and I’m reading in many places that that is starting to open the floodgates for other states to not just succumb to this indoctrination program.
I wanted to just mention quickly that Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, who is a very diligent researcher, very aware of what’s really going on behind the scenes, and a dedicated health researcher has just reflected in an article that he wrote that he sees three eminent victories for humanity and I agree with all of these. He sees the fall of marijuana prohibition (which has obviously gotten started), the rise of mandatory GMO labeling, and the insistence on mercury-free vaccines. We’re seeing evidence here at Thrive Movement that all three of those are turning the corner and will be done relatively soon.
The final thing I want to talk about in this message is in the area of infrastructure and having to do with free energy. There are still a tremendous number of projects that I’m not in a position to talk about publicly for the safety of the people involved, but many of you are hearing probably that there have been two disclosures recently.
One is from the Keshe Foundation. This is out of Iran. Dr. Keshe had tried to give his plans for free energy devices, for counter-gravity, and for propulsion to governments around the world and, basically, they did not show interest. Now, he has published it on the Internet and our people have been looking though it. It’s very complex. It’s very knowledgeable. We have no indication yet, no proof of whether or not it works or how easy it is to build, but it’s part of a positive trend.
The second device that’s being made public is something called the QEG, or the Quantum Energy Generator. This comes from an inventor named James Robitaille and is being publicized by the hopegirl blog and the Fix The World project. Supposedly, they have been working for quite a while on a free energy device and, supposedly, it’s now working. What they have done is distribute the plans. It’s already on 20,000 hard drives around the world, so this toothpaste can’t be put back in the tube. We are highly hopeful that this is the real deal. One of the good pieces on this is that it’s based on a now-expired patent granted to Nikola Tesla, so there are no personal disclosure problems about intellectual property issues. Because they’re giving it away to the world and because it’s an expired patent, it enters into the realm of free speech rather than commerce. Just as in the Pentagon Papers, if it’s a free speech issue, it’s much easier to defend the person bringing the information out than it is if it’s a commerce issue where they can tie you up in courts with interstate commerce claims and that type of thing. We are also tracking this one and we know some of the people involved and we have requested the opportunity to vet the technology with our team. The principles are traveling in Europe right now, but we anticipate that happening when they get back and we will keep you posted.
We hope that at least one or both of these is true.
What I want to say about that and all the good news stories I just mentioned (and I could have mentioned many, many more) is just the evidence that we are seeing ongoingly that given the opportunity, people fundamentally want to help each other out and they will take courageous steps to do that. So, keep thriving, keep spreading the word, and we’ll see you next time. Bye-bye.
